Welcome to The Science of Weight Loss: Dispelling Diet Myths I’m Professor Clare Collins.
And I’m Associate Professor Tracy Burrows. We’re researchers in Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Newcastle, Australia.
The Science of Weight Loss is a six week course designed for adults.
Each week my colleagues and I will take you through a new topic based on the scientific evidence behind food, nutrition, and managing weight.
The course includes a range of activities designed to help you learn more about healthy eating and achieving a healthy weight.
This week we’ll cover:
- How to accurately take measurements such as height, weight and waist circumference.
- How to determine if weight loss is appropriate for someone.
- How to set realistic nutrition and weight goals.
- And look at some of the common motivations for weight loss.
